This is the skirt from the latest Threads Magazine. Not "the" skirt, but my version. I made it for my 10 year old daughter and I like it so much, I think I might make one for myself...but probably not a horizontal stripe! Once you get your head around the instructions, the skirt is very simple and the options are endless. I'm thinking this would be a great addition to a t-shirt dress.

Silk painting with Hellenne
Everyone had an absolutely wonderful time at last night's meeting. Our wonderfully talented Hellenne taught us how to paint on silk. Everyone was able to paint their own design using silk stretched on frames by Hellenne - who had painstakenly drawn designs on all of the screens for us. She then took them home to finish processing them (steaming them and removing the resist from the silk)

Bookbinding by Jo Ellen
Jo Ellen gave us a wonderful demo on bookbinding, sewing the signatures together with lacing, and the many ways to create covers. They were all beautiful and several members will be making wedding books using this method. Jo Ellen also gave us links to the wonderful handmade papers she uses:

Monster Workshop
Colleen led us all in a Monster Workshop because sometimes you just need to do something FUN! These little creations certainly fit the bill for fun and everyone turned out an adorable little critter by the evening's end. They were as wacky and unique as all our group members and you could definitely see everyone's spirit shine through in their monster.
Thanks to Colleen for a fabulous evening of laughter and friends! Here is a link to the other pictures from our Workshop... http://www.flickr.com/photos/90459054@N00/sets/72157613844234710/

Fun projects - some art fabric
I'll probably have to miss tonight and will miss you much. Since I love SNT, I have to post two very fun projects I just finished with fabric and patterns from Colleen (http://www.someartfabric.com). Oops - it won't help me in the stash contest, will it? Colleen has such a keen sense of color and I love Amy Butler patterns now. The patterns are Frenchy and Stash&dash bags. I really love that green fabric Colleen selected for the top of the Frenchy bag. It's organic and a gorgeous spring color. Martha

New Charm Quilt
Hey ladies I made this quilt this past weekend and I am wondering if the instructions are okay. I put it up at instructables. I like the way they do their step by step instructions. I would love your feedback on the directions and if you (the quilter types) would be able to make this from my instruction. This quilt is fast and perfect for quick gifts or the many donation quilts we all make. Thanks in advance. Colleen
